1.Supervision

Supervision is a way to devote time to one’s work, to reflect on the cases, to become aware and get self-assessment tools for actions. Supervision is intended as a relational process characterized by a generative dialogue in which two or more people learn together, to produce new “life forms” within the inter-subjective field (D. Stern, 2010).Our intervention is based on the theory of Transactional Analysis according to the operational model proposed by M. Mazzetti (2013) and P. Clarkson (1992).We offer supervision in different cities of Italy, individually or in small groups, led by Transactional Analysts certified in supervision by the European Transactional Analysis Association (TSTA, CTA-TRAINER, PTSTA)

2.Training

The training is for ITACA an elective way of connecting and sharing knowledge. It is a relational process where the dialogue favours the learning between two or more individuals and groups. (G. Barrow – T. Newton, 2016).This for us is translated into a methodology that helps people discover what they really are, to broaden the knowledge of themselves and the world around them, to encourage the general creative impulse towards growth and the learning that comes from the deepest biological roots of the human being fighting to be realized in an as complete form as possible (Clarkson, 1991).

This approach is enriched by ideas and additions taken from the holistic model of Andragogy (M. Knowles, 1998) and the Humanistic Psychology (C. Rogers, 1979) in a harmonious and coherent synthesis.

Our proposals are made for psychology students, psychologists, psychotherapists, psychiatrists and other professionals in the clinical field.

We offer training courses devoted to the family group, infancy, childhood, adolescence and young adults, both for public and the private operators. The interventions are made with a contracting approach that is specific to our way of working. Our activities are conducted by certified transactional analysts for teaching by the European Transactional Analysis Association (TSTA, CTA-TRAINER, PTSTA) and are organised in days of seminar, workshops and laboratories, in short and long term projects, organisation of national and International conferences, professional preparation of trainees and internships, publishing of scientific/clinical material through a network of contacts in Italy and in Europe.

3.Research

ITACA believes that the development of psychotherapy for children, adolescents and their reference adults is a circular process of growth and permanent confrontation between theory and technique. The results can be observed in the clinical practice.

The circular relationship between researchers, clinicians, supervisors and trainees has led to the development of a permanent group of internal research, in collaboration with the University of Padua.

The research group of ITACA as part of the Padua Practitioner Research Network deals with the validation of the emerging models of psychotherapy. Marginalized, through hermeneutical drawings on individual cases, with a non-simultaneous multiple baseline.

The hermeneutical designs allow the conducting of research in an ecological and methodologically rigorous way, with minimal impact on the normal course of therapy, investigating the effectiveness of treatments in the daily clinical practice.

Currently the research topics include the treatment of depression, generalized anxiety disorder and new emerging diseases in childhood and adolescence.

ITACA is also part of the two-year research project funded by EATA in 2014 “Toward a Transactional Analysis psychotherapy Recognized As Empirically Supported Treatment: an Italian Replication Series design of Hermeneutic Single Case Efficacy Design on mood disorders”, with the aim to validate the effectiveness of brief treatment for depression in adolescents.

The treatment, during 16 sessions, is based on a theoretical model of intervention developed by therapists of ITACA.

Early research identified the effectiveness of Permissions and the relationship of therapeutic alliance in the treatment of depressive disorders in adolescence, providing the first empirical support for the validity of the model.

Every therapist interested in participating in research can send an email to navigando@versoitaca.org.
